New Mitsubishi Grand Lancer Is For China And Other Asian Markets

http://www.carscoops.com/2017/02/new-mi ... s-for.html

For most of the world, the Mitsubishi Lancer doesn't have long time to live following the brand’s decision to kill what is arguably, its most iconic model. In China and other select Asian markets however, the Lancer is still around and is being prepared for a major overhaul.

Malaysian outlet Key Auto has uncovered a plethora of images of the new-generation car set to be dubbed the Grand Lancer. Most of the images have been taken from a promotional film of the model that aired at a recent Mitsubishi meeting in Macau and fully detail the car’s all-new design.

Despite what the name suggests, the new Lancer doesn’t appear to be any bigger than the previous-generation model but it does look very, very different.

At the front, the grille, headlight surrounds and other elements of the bumper are finished in chrome and adopt the brand’s Dynamic Shield look. If you glance at the sides, the Grand Lancer’s bold body lines immediately catch the eye as do the silver and black wheels. The rear meanwhile is also quite different and includes a set of new taillights that have a more complex design than the outgoing Lancer.

Key Auto says that the Grand Lancer will be powered exclusively by a 1.8-liter MIVEC four-cylinder engine delivering 139 hp at 6,000 rpm and 172 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. A new CVT gearbox is predicted to complement this engine.

In the cabin, the Grand Lancer will enjoy a host of new features. These include a 10.2-inch digital gauge cluster, an optional 8-inch touchscreen entertainment system and seven airbags. Safety features like emergency brake warning, steep slope start assistance and accident warning system will also be fitted.

An official debut is scheduled for April 6.

New Mitsubishi Grand Lancer Bows In Taiwan With Fresh Design

http://www.carscoops.com/2017/02/new-mi ... ws-in.html

The new Mitsubishi Grand Lancer has been officially revealed shortly after images of it leaked online.

Set to be sold in China and other select Asian markets like Taiwan and Malaysia, the Grand Lancer retains a characteristic Lancer design, but is immediately identifiable from the final Lancer models being produced and sold internationally.

The front of the Grand Lancer incorporates the company's distinctive Dynamic Shield look with chrome stretching across and around the front grille. Additionally, the five-door sedan has a particularly eyebrow-raising side profile due to the presence of two bold character lines running from the front wheel arch to the rear wheel.

Mitsubishi's refreshed design is also notable at the rear thanks to a set of uniquely-shaped taillights, reverse lights and even a single rear rain/fog light. There's also a set of silver and black 18-inch wheels.

Appropriately, it is not just the exterior which has received a makeover; the cabin has also been freshened up by the Japanese brand. Among the changes is an optional digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system while dual-zone automatic climate control comes standard in the range-topping Grand Lancer.

In terms of power, customers will only have the option of a 1.8-liter SOHC MIVEC four-cylinder delivering 140 PS (138 hp) and driving the rear wheels courtesy of an updated CVT 'box.

Mitsubishi Grand Lancer – 9th gen lives on in Taiwan

Mitsubishi may finally be putting its long-serving ninth-generation Lancer to pasture this year, but the Taiwanese market is having none of that. In fact, demand is so strong there that the company has given the C-segment sedan a thorough revamp, renaming it the Mitsubishi Grand Lancer.

Although the original’s sharp lines can still be seen, the new car features the brand’s distinctive new Dynamic Shield corporate look, with a chrome lined front-mask that’s reminiscent of the latest Outlander, as well as optional automatic LED headlights. Along the sides, there are more dynamic character lines that frame the new faux fender vents, while the beltline now has an upward kink towards the rear.

Moving to the rear, the Grand Lancer gains new C-shaped tail lights, a number plate recess that has moved up into the bootlid and a more aggressive bumper design. New two-tone 18-inch alloy wheels have also been added to the range-topping model.

The interior has also been given a significant makeover, with a new dashboard similar in design to the Triton. Big additions include a new eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and digital TV, as well as a customisable Smart Dashboard digital instrument cluster; both are optional. There’s also now dual-zone automatic climate control for the top variant.

All models are powered by a 1.8 litre SOHC MIVEC naturally-aspirated petrol four-cylinder engine that develops 140 PS and 176 Nm, sent to the front wheels via a INVECS-III CVT. Combined fuel consumption is rated at 15.7 km per litre. Under the skin, the Grand Lancer has been given improvements in terms of noise vibration and harshness on all but the base model.

Safety-wise, all variants come standard with ABS with EBD and brake assist, stability control, hill-start assist, ISOFIX rear child seat anchors and up to six airbags. Prices start at NT$679,000 (RM97,900) for the entry-level Elegant, rising up to NT$719,000 (RM103,700) for the Classic, NT$749,000 (RM108,000) for the Luxury, NT$769,000 (RM110,900) for the Fashion and NT$819,000 (RM118,100) for the Flagship.

New 2018 Mitsubishi Grand Lancer Targets China And Other Asian Markets

http://www.carscoops.com/2017/03/new-20 ... ancer.html

We just got a fresh batch of live photos showing the new Mitsubishi Grand Lancer which is going to be launched in the markets of China, Taiwan and other selected Asian markets.

Although the Lancer is already sentenced to death at these parts of the globe, Mitsubishi clearly is not ready to give up on its trusted model on other regions.

The Grand Lancer is basically a re-skinned version of “our” Lancer, with the new bodywork featuring the company’s latest “Dynamic Shield” front grille, a boomerang-like crease on the sides and an a pointier rear end.

The cabin also gets a new layout, with the dashboard looking like it’s made out of softer-to-touch materials decorated with silver details for a more premium look. There is also a new digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

So far there’s only one engine we’ve heard about and that’s the 1.8-litre petrol with 138hp. Mitsubishi will offer a sole transmission option in the form of a CVT gearbox which transfers the power to the front axle. The CVT also offers the option of a manual mode with six pre-selected ratios and optional paddle shifters on the wheel.

The Mitsubishi Lancer is dead, long live the Mitsubishi Grand Lancer.

Mitsubishi Lancer adds blacked-out Limited Edition trim

The new package is positioned directly above the base model, pairing technology and styling upgrades in a lower price bracket.
Mitsubishi has introduced a new Limited Edition trim level for the 2017 Lancer.

Positioned directly above the ES base model, the new package focuses on styling upgrades with a few technology enhancements at an affordable price.

Taking inspiration from popular blacked-out models offered by competitors, the Lancer LE features a dark paint finish on its 16-inch wheels, roof, upper front grille garnish, fender garnish and door mirrors.

The interior has been equipped with black fabric and red stitching on the steering wheel, shift knob, brake lever, armrest and door trim. Other upgrades include aluminum pedals, a black headliner and pillars, gloss black finishing and a 6.5-inch display with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Lancer LE will arrive in showrooms later this month with a $19.795 price tag.
