Mai mare decât ASX, mai mic decât Outlander: Mitsubishi pregăteşte un nou SUV

http://www.automarket.ro/stiri/mai-mare ... 75109.html

Mitsubishi BSX Is A Seriously Pumped Up, Imaginery, Small SUV

http://www.carscoops.com/2017/01/mitsub ... ed-up.html

It might be nothing more than an artist's study, but this Mitsubishi looks just about ready to take off.

Penned by Piotr Moskala and posted on DesignerSpace, the small SUV features aggressive lines across its exterior, an odd-shaped grille that sits above an aggressive bumper, flanked by futuristic-looking headlights and large wheels wrapped in low-profile tires.

So far, however, there's no indication so far that Mitsubishi plans to enter the subcompact SUV segment. Instead, the Japanese automaker is busy readying the next generation of the Outlander Sport / ASX that should launch sometime this year.

The new crossover has been already scooped in the wild, with its styling cues inspired by the XR-PHEV II Concept, with a slightly sloping roof line and a sporty rear end. The new SUV will be powered by a range of petrol and diesel engines and come in front- and all-wheel drive versions, while a plug-in hybrid could also be part of the lineup.

Mitsubishi, Nissan to stay rivals despite tie-up: report

Mitsubishi will remain competitors with the Renault and Nissan brands, despite the Renault-Nissan alliance buying a 34% stake in Mitsubishi last October.

“We are competitors and we will remain competitors,… and Nissan doesn’t just want to give us their car with a new badge on it,” Mitsubishi North America’s president, Don Swearingen said during a media event last week. The partnership can be likened to that of Hyundai and Kia, which are two brands owned by the same company but with products from each one going head to head with those from the other.

“We are not integrating Mitsubishi. We are going to try and establish the sort of relationship we have between Renault and Nissan, which means we are going to try and share as many components, platforms and technologies as possible, yet Mitsubishi will be responsible for designing their own cars and remains a different company, so it’s exactly the same model we are applying to Renault and Nissan that we’ve been applying for the last 17 years,” Nissan global chief planning officer Philippe Klein told Car Advice.

Mitsubishi’s troubles with its fuel consumption test data have landed it in tough times. The automaker has lost its top two executives and also suffered financially, having RM1.9 billion allocated to compensate buyers of models affected by the manipulated test data.

To that end, Nissan CEO and Mitsubishi chairman, Carlos Ghosn has said that Mitsubishi will be fixed ‘with no shortcuts and no blind spots’, with the brand’s relatively small research and development budget taking a toll on its business in the aftermath of the aforementioned fuel efficiency scandal.

Platform sharing will allow Mitsubishi to substantially reduce operational costs, and the financial savings for both companies are substantial, said Klein. “We have already sent a list of synergies, components and technologies we are going to share and have made official some potential synergy savings for next year and the year after, it will be 24 billion yen (RM915 million) for Nissan, it’s the way we are going to work,” he said.

Regarding the three brands in the alliance, each will have their own direction. “Mitsubishi, Nissan and Renault have their own heritage, you cannot decide a brand top down, it doesn’t work, you have heritage and the vision for where it has to go. So Mitsubishi has its own strengths in some segments and countries, Nissan and Renault have their own.”

This means, according to Nissan, that the Triton will be a model of its own identity, despite sharing the same platform as the Navara and the upcoming Mercedes-Benz pick-up trucks.

“What you’re going to see is, in fact you will not see it. The main objective that we’re pursuing is that we are going to be successful if you don’t see it, yet we share components, modules, platforms. If the consumer starts to perceive that this is the same car, it’s a failure for us,” Klein said.

As for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, it appears that the high-performance Mitsubishi sedan’s future is now in doubt, with a lack of suitable platform to be built upon. “It’s a very nice cherry on the cake, but you need to have a cake first.”

RGC/Uratex Group affiliate to participate in CARS Program

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) recently recognized 25 local automotive parts manufacturers as the country’s leading companies to participate in manufacturing one of its models enrolled in the government’s Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy (CARS) Program recently.

One of the participating companies is Roberts Automotive and Industrial Parts Manufacturing Corporation (Roberts AIPMC), an RGC/Uratex Group company.

RGC/Uratex Group of Companies has always been one of the leading providers of automotive parts in the country. The group has a long partnership of more than 40 years with MMPC to which RGC Group provided body parts, mufflers, radiators, leaf springs, car seats, and foam pads, to name a few. Roberts Automotive also markets Evercool Radiators and Tiger Leafsprings.

Eddie Gallor, the Executive Vice President of the RGC/Uratex Group, received the Certificate of Participation from MMPC on behalf of Roberts Automotive, an RGC/Uratex Group affiliate (Manila Bulletin)

The CARS Program aims to improve the industry’s parts-making capabilities to ensure that parts makers will meet quality standards as demanded by automotive manufacturers.

MMPC recently recognized the country’s leading automotive parts manufacturers as participants to its local parts manufacturing program for the Mitsubishi Mirage and Mitsubishi Mirage G4 models enrolled under the CARS Program.

“We have decided to produce the Mitsubishi Mirage in the Philippines because we believe that this product is perfect for the country’s present demand for small car segment,” MMPC President and CEO, Yoshiaki Kato said. “It is loaded with new and exciting features appealing for today’s generation and it will soon be a proudly Philippine-made, or proudly Pinoy product. MMPC shall help source local parts manufacturing and help the country to become an automotive manufacturing hub that exports quality vehicles and automotive parts.”

The Philippines had once a leading industry in manufacturing automotive parts, but the industry took some blows to its production because of several economic crises that hit it and has been trying to recover ever since. With the implementation of the CARS Program, the automotive industry is given a better fighting chance to revitalize its industry and elevate the country as a regional automotive manufacturing hub, much like its ASEAN neighbors.

Carlos Ghosn talks Trump, Mitsubishi

Renault-Nissan boss outlines integration of Mitsubishi, calls on level US playing field.

Carlos Ghosn is animated. He obviously enjoys facing a roomful of journalists in a wildcard Q&A session. Few other CEOs are as accessible and as open as Ghosn, CEO of the Renault-Nissan Alliance, and this format is as off the cuff as a Bonds singlet.

There’s no zig or zag in his answers. He goes right to the point on a wide range of topics from the recent acquisition of Mitsubishi Motors to a Trump US presidency and its impact on Nissan.

As of October 20, when Nissan announced it had paid $US2.3 billion for a 34 per cent stake and managerial control of Mitsubishi Motors, Ghosn now oversees a growing automotive empire within an industry that’s rapidly changing as new technologies are developed.

The man has a knack at financially correcting errant companies by reducing manufacturing costs, trimming waste and, more importantly, changing corporate culture.

The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance is a 10 million car-a-year conglomerate. Ranked by global sales, it rivals Toyota, Volkswagen AG and General Motors. It is the new giant in the room.

Ghosn talks China for a moment, knowing this is where the Alliance is weak. Conversely, Renault sales are strong in Europe and Nissan-Infiniti has a 10 per cent market share in the US.

Ghosn has already made major executive changes at Mitsubishi, with the overall plan to consolidate suppliers and find synergies where Nissan and Mitsubishi can share components and reduce costs.

Ghosn’s man on the ground is Philippe Klein, a Frenchman based in Yokohama, Japan, responsible for product planning at Nissan. He reports directly to Ghosn.

“We are not integrating Mitsubishi,” claims Klein. “We going to try to establish the same type of relationship as the one we have with Renault and Nissan. That means we’re going to try and share as many components, platforms and technology as possible.

“Yet, Mitsubishi will remain responsible for its product portfolio and designing its own cars. It remains a different company.”

He adds: “It is exactly the same business model we’re applying to Mitsubishi as we’ve been applying to Renault and Nissan for the past 17 years.”

Through technology and component sharing between Nissan and Mitsubishi, Klein and Ghosn will trim more than 24 billion yen (more than $A280m) from Nissan’s production costs in 2017.

Before the Alliance had released its 2016 global sales figures, Ghosn claims Renault-Nissan had a record year. “2017 will be higher,” he jabs and predicts sales will continue to grow for the next five to 10 years.

Asked what he expects from Donald Trump as US president, Ghosn says: “He is America first and jobs for the United States – that’s fine for us. We are building enough cars in the US for the US market.”

In 2016 Nissan built 640,000 cars at its factory in Tennessee, and has capacity of 450,000 vehicles from its plant in Mississippi.

“Our concern is new cars for the future. And before we can make these kinds of decisions, we need to understand the economic conditions and trade that is going to exist between the United States and Mexico,” says Ghosn.

“Our concern is that there is one rule for everybody.”
